In addition to being effective against fungi, 4-Hydroxybenzoic acid esters have stronger antibacterial properties than benzoic acid and sorbic acid due to their phenolic hydroxyl structure . The characteristics of 4-Hydroxybenzoic acid esters are that their toxicity is lower than that of benzoic acid, and their antibacterial effect is independent of pH value.
